an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti as they seek to care for and meet the needs of orphans in Haiti. Maison also provides employment for 50 adults (mostly women) which allows them to provide for their families.
We believe that every child is a unique individual with a Godly plan and purpose for their life. We also believe that children best flourish in a family, but that life circumstances sometimes require an alternate safe haven.
It works in compliance and partnership with IBESR (Haitian social services), to provide food, clothing, shelter, education, spiritual guidance and cultural and developmental opportunities for the children. Maison works closely with IBESR to not only facilitate birth family reunification when possible, but also to prepare adoption files for children who are available for an adoption match.
Maison is capably led and managed by two brothers, Pierre and Franckis Alexis who have been committed to this cause since it was founded.
Haiti is located on the island of Hispaniola. It is only a short 681 miles from Florida. Haiti occupies the western third of the island of Hispaniola. The Dominican Republic occupies the other two-thirds. Haiti is in the Caribbean Sea and lies between Cuba and Jamaica. It has a land space of 27,750 miles and is slightly smaller than the state of Maryland. The terrain is mostly hilly and the weather is tropical. The Capitol of Haiti is Port-au-Prince. The island lies in the middle of the hurricane belt. From June to October is rainy season and the island is subject to flooding. It is considered the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
The population in Haiti is over nine million. There is excess mortality due to the diseases of poverty such as infectious diseases, cholera and food and waterborne diseases. This fact results in a lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality and death rates, reduced populate growth rates and changes in the distribution of population by age and sex than otherwise would be expected. The infant mortality rate is 71.7 deaths to every 1000 births. The life expectancy in Haiti is 63.5 years which is lower than that of it’s neighbors, Cuba, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
On 12 January 2010, an earthquake claimed many lives and disintegrated many buildings, including medical and treatment facilities in Port-au-Prince within seconds. The magnitude 7 earthquake, was powerful enough to destroy most of the city, put the medical system back to the most rudimentary stage with few facilities and overloaded the hospitals with the wounded people. Between 46,000 and 300,000 Haitians died and most areas were forced to wait for Doctors without Borders humanitarian aid for over a month due to the critical devastation of roads and airports.

The Alexis Foundation is committed to giving the children at Maison des Enfants de Dieu a hope and future wether through family reunification, adoption, or support as they grow into adulthood.
The child sponsorship program provides shelter, food, clothes, medical care, security, loving staff and so much more in a Christ-centered home.
For $1.50 day, $50 per month, and a commitment to prayer, you can become a child sponsor. Sponsors have the privilege of following the individuals child story, growth, and progress.
Sponsors receive regular updates that will include a recent photo, and an update on how the child is doing. Sponsors are allowed to send letters and small gifts.
If a child leaves Maison, the sponsor will be notified, and matched with another child so they can follow another child’s progress and growth.
Many children are waiting for sponsors and they need your help! More importantly, sponsorship shows these children that someone loves them and cares about their future. Below are the pictures of the children currently living at Maison. We hope you will prayerfully consider sponsoring a child and making a difference in their lives.
